Reinforcement tape hybrid white Innegra and fiberglass mixed with E-glass, 80mm
We have used surfboard E-Glass and infused Innegra Strands to give the Hybrid PloyFlex Tapes a unique genetic flex pattern that is less stiff than the Hybrid Carbon Tapes. The Innegra strands have a fast recoil rate, that when the board is pushed through a turn it flex against the boards' nature rocker. The Innegra strands and E-Glass react and spring the board back to its nature rocker curve and in doing creating speed and adding strength at the same time. The Innegra is stronger then PloyFlex Strands and carbon but offers more flex then carbon.
The tape is designed to class clear and leave six 2.2mm thick white lines once wet out.
Innegra S Surfboard Fiber Clothe
Innegra S high-performance fiber is the lightest fiber and toughest available fiber on the market, delivering superior toughness in a composite while at the same time reducing weight.
What is Innegra Fibre?
Innegra is a Polypropylene yarn which offers strength, flex and resistance prosperities that have not been seen in the mainstream consumer market. The Innegra fiber is approximately 7-10% void volume, making it the lightest high-performance fiber available, the polypropylene is design to work synergistically with Carbon, Glass Cloth to reinforce and improve the properties of composite systems. Innegra cloth is used as a replacement for glass fiber, aramid (Kevlar), carbon and other reinforcement composites, but offers a white clean cosmetic look.
What is the hype about Innegra?
Surfers/Shapers report that Innegra manufactured surfboards take the chop out the wave combining the impact resistance of epoxy surfboards with the softness of polyurethane boards. Making Innegra boards light, extremely responsive and retaining the pop life (the new board feel) longer.
Innegra allows board manufactures to produce incredibly tough board, with unique flex characteristics, and best of all is the fact it is lighter than glass or resin and even lighter than carbon or Kevlar.
Properties
Industry Uses
Back Rails: Manufactures place the Carbon Hybrid Tapes on the back rail of surfboards to prevent the tails from shattering and strengthening the deck from foot compressions.
Bottom of the board: The Carbon Hybrid Tapes are also used on the bottom of the surfboards to create additional spring or pop out of the board. This is known as a kinetic flex, as the board is placed under pressure while in transition, during or out of a turn the board springs back to its natural curvature and delivers additional speed.
Full Rail of the board: The Carbon Hybrid Tapes are often used along the full length of the surfboard rail with stringerless surfboards. This is to add additional strength or to replace the strength that a timber stringer would provide, therefore creating a Parabolic Frame. The Parabolic Frame helps prevents the board from twisting which increases the liveliness/responsiveness, this also creates a parabolic flex pattern that allows the board to deliver more drive, speed, and power.
Lay-ups: The Carbon Hybrid Tapes are used during the lamination process. The tapes are placed on the foam before the cloth is laminated. Most manufacturers mark the area they wish to place the Carbon Hybrid Tapes and brush a small amount of resin on the foam (to prevent to the Carbon Hybrid Tapes from moving). The Carbon Hybrid Tapes are then placed on the resin (making sure the resin has soaked through) and then continue to lay the cloth over the board and laminate as normal.
Resin Compatibility
The Carbon Hybrid Tapes are compatible with both Epoxy and Polyester Resin.
